Union membership provides the only opportunity in Cambridge to see such high profile speakers, as well as being a great way to meet people from other colleges. Also, if you have opinions to share and fancy honing your public speaking skills, you can get involved yourself and have a chance to speak in the famous chamber; the Union runs debating workshops and anyone can take part in the weekly emergency debate (where students get to argue a motion decided by the members, just before the main debate).
